We offer Perth’s favourite Pilates Reformer, Mat, Barre and CORE Functional Fitness classes! Our classes focus on the 5 basic principles of Pilates to ensure you get the most out of every exercise taught by our Instructors. 

There are Five Basic Principles that provide the foundation of STOTT PILATES® and are key to performing the exercises safely,  effectively and with intelligent movement.

Pilates Reformer classes combine stability and correct biomechanics with a great workout. The STOTT PILATES reformer machines assist with correct technique and challenge your muscles developing strength without bulk, improving flexibility/mobility, posture and bone density. Small class sizes of 7 provides for individualised instruction where required for those who want fitness, strength and mobility to help with daily aches and pains. Even athletes will benefit from core techniques and relearning how to move the body properly.

Essential – Level 1 Reformer classes will help develop your understanding of local stability and correct biomechanics whilst getting a great workout.

Power – is for those who have been regularly attending essential reformer and want more of a challenge. Power will include a mix of intermediate and advanced exercises.

Cardio – Jump Board classes are the perfect way to incorporate cardio work into your Pilates routine! 

Matwork Pilates classes at Bodyworks Subiaco are all about intelligent exercise. Matwork Pilates describes our services that include matwork essential & dynamic, barre classes, and prenatal pilates. Matwork Pilates is for those that want a safe workout using bodyweight and props designed to improve strength, tone, flexibility and your overall fitness. Progress to Dynamic after 5 or more matwork classes; your instructor will guide you.

Essential – is fun effective series of closed chain and simple choreography exercises, which addresses the basic foundations of pilates.

Dynamic – takes the tempo, coordination and mind body connection up a level from Essential Level 1 Matwork. Dynamic Matwork introduces you to intermediate and advanced exercises.

ZEN•GA™ –  is a blend of mind-body awareness, supported by exercise science and the newest findings in fascial fitness. Based on Four Mindful Movement Principles: breath, support, yield and flow.

Pre Natal – Pregnancy is a exciting time of change for your body and pre natal pilates at Bodyworks is a great way get back some control. Pilates is an excellent way to strength the muscles surrounding your pelvis and spine to help relieve tension and maintain good posture during pregnancy.

Barre –  is a safe and effective barre workout; barre being a fusion between dance and pilates exercises. Many barre workouts can cause hip/spinal pain and injury. Barre at Bodyworks is the brain child between a rehabilitation physiotherapist in combination with an ex professional dancer who together have fused the principles of dance and pilates SAFELY. This high intensity workout choreographed to music is fun whilst still educating you in smooth controlled movement encouraging toning, strength and flexibility without injury. The dance based workout using the ballet barre (hence the name) will keep you fit and firm whilst encompassing the pilates principles of breath, local control and global mobility. Warning this class is addictive and no prior dance experience necessary.

Functional Fitness – Ramp up the intensity a notch with our CORE classes! Boost your metabolism by working multiple body segments simultaneously. High intensity interval training (HIIT) meets Pilates! We use fun new props including the medicine ball, large stability balls, strength & ankle tubing and the stability cushion. To keep these workouts safe and effective we start you out with stretching and end with stretching.

Athletic Strength Stretch and Conditioning – this Physiotherapist run rehab class is for athletes; cyclists, runners, triathletes, swimmers amongst others. This class has evolved due to demand for retraining stabalisers in power athletes. Due to excessive overuse of power muscles and poor biomechical training Bodyworks sees increased prevelance of injury in those athletes that don’t integrate stability (core) training and dynamic stretch training. This class will emphasis the technique required to execute correct biomechanics of movements required in power sports whilst taking the body through range and aiding joint nutrition and prevention of injury.

  • This Introductory Package is ideal for those who are new to Pilates or new to our studio, looking to learn the Pilates five basic principles and feel the benefits from Reformer and Matwork pilates. Start off with correct technique and enthusiasm!
